Hokkaido Drive Package 1

Discover the natural beauty of Hokkaido, Japan’s most northern Island, at your own pace. This is a region known for its beautiful nature, wild flowers, bird life, lakes and mountains. Drive along small country roads inaccessible by large tour coaches, as you enjoy the breath-taking natural countryside.

Day 1-2:  Sapporo-> Furano 2hrs
Day 3: Furano -> Lake Akan 3.5hrs
Day 4-5:  Lake Akan -> Shiretoko 2.5hrs
Day 6:  Shiretoko -> Sounkyo 3.5hrs
Day 7: Sounkyo -> Sapporo 2.5hrs

DAY 1-2: FURANO

Furano’s vast lavender fields attract a large number of visitors every summer, when plants are in full bloom. The main season for flower viewing takes place between June and September although some flowers also bloom in other months also . Other sites accessible by car include the Blue Pond at Biei and the Sea of Clouds at Tomamu.

DAY 3: LAKE AKAN

There are three beautiful lakes in the Akan Mashu National Park area; Lake Akan, Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu. Various outdoor activities can be enjoyed here such as fishing, hiking, kayaking and cycling .

DAY 4-5: SHIRETOKO

Shiretoko National Park is a must visit for nature lovers. From Spring to Autumn, a boat cruise along the peninsula is an opportunity to spot brown bears and there are scenic hiking opportunities at the Shiretoko Five Lakes area. There are special activities available in the winter time including ice walks on the floating sea ice and snowshoeing.

DAY 6: SOUNKYO ONSEN

This area is known for abundant hot springs with a mountain backdrop. Autumn is an amazing time to relax in a hot spring while admiring the Autumn leaves, but it is also worth visiting at other times of year to enjoy the natural scenery and perhaps hike or ski depending on the season.

DAY 7: SAPPORO

Hokkaido’s largest city, Sapporo has many sights including, Odori Park, Sapporo TV Tower observation desk and Sapporo Clock Tower. Known for food, enjoy dishes such as ramen , crab and grilled lamb.
