Experience some of the most scenic areas of Japan! Enjoy both the historical and commercial areas of Tokyo, the mountain resort area of Hakone and beautiful Mt. Fuji. Immerse yourself in culture in Kyoto, with its 1,200 years of history, and explore Nara, home of the Great Buddha. Sunrise Guided Tours are a combination of day tours which also includes your accommodation in each city and transportation. Your guide & group will change each day. English speaking guides are included during site seeing and assistants at points of transfers (except while on board bullet trains).

Airport – Tokyo
A JTB staff member will meet you as you exit customs, holding a welcome sign with your name on it. They will then escort you to your reserved taxi that will take you to your Tokyo hotel.

Gather at selected hotels throughout Tokyo. 

Tokyo Tower (30 min)
Enjoy a spectacular view of Metropolitan Tokyo from the observation deck.

Imperial Palace Plaza (10 min) 
Admire the view of Nijubashi Bridge and the surrounding scenery at this National Garden that was formerly a private garden of the Royal Family.

Senso-ji Temple & Nakamise Shopping Street (45 min)
Of the 33 temples in Eastern Japan dedicated to the Goddess Kannon, this is the only one in the capital (No. 13 on the pilgrimage to all 33 temples). Visit this historic area which includes Nakamise-dori, the street leading to the temple.

Ueno & Akihabara (drive-by)
Enjoy a pleasant drive through Ueno, where Tokyo’s first coffee shop once stood, to Akihabara which is home to the famous Electric Town.

Tour will conclude at Tokyo Station.

Tokyo – Mt Fuji – Kyoto

7:50 – 8:30
Gather at selected hotels throughout Tokyo and head to Mt Fuji by bus.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station (30 min)
The bus will head up to the 5th Station along the Subaru line. The 5th Station is situated at 2,300 meters (7,546 ft) above sea level. At this height, participants will be amazed at spectacular, breathtaking views from above the clouds.

Lunch
Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch.

Lake Ashi Cruise (15 min)
Go for a sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. This crater lake along the southwest wall of the caldera of Mt. Hakone was formed by a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago, and provides postcard views of Mt. Fuji towering 30 km northwest. Admire the superb view of Mt. Fuji from aboard a ship.

Mt. Komagatake Ropeway (50 min)
Take a 7-minute ropeway ride to the peak of Mt. Komagatake. A total of 50 minutes will be spent here, including time to walk around at the peak. Take a cableway ride up to the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya (original shrine) that nestles at the mountaintop.

From Odawara Station to Kyoto Station (There may be a transfer at Shizuoka Station or Nagoya Station) – Go to Kyoto by Hikari or Kodama Shinkansen. Trip time: 120 to 180 minutes.

Participants will be taken by taxi from Kyoto Station to their hotels.

Nijo Castle (50 min)
A World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Kinkaku-ji Temple (45 min)
Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond. 

[Except Mondays] Kyoto Imperial Palace (40 min) – See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor’s residence until about 150 years ago.

[Mondays (and Tuesdays when Monday is a national holiday)] Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (40 min) – On Mondays (and Tuesdays if a national holiday falls on the preceding Monday), this tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It is famous for housing the God of scholarship. This shrine’s main hall is a designated national treasure. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

Lunch (50 min)
Enjoy a Japanese/Western style buffet lunch.

From Kyoto to Nara
Travel by bus to Nara by Keinawa Expressway.

Todai-ji Temple (Great Buddha) / Nara Park (60 min)
A World Heritage Site, this is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world’s largest wooden structure. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine (40 min)
This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are through to be the shrine messengers.

Nara Nagamikan (20 min)
The largest souvenir shop in Nara. Enjoy this spacious shop and look for the perfect souvenir.

Tour concludes where you will be dropped off at your Kyoto hotel.

Head to Tokyo via Nozomi Shinkansen (140 min). Participants will be taken by taxi from Tokyo Station to their hotels in Tokyo.
