Hi Miyuki,
Just wanted to (finally) email you regarding our recent trip to Japan.
We had a fantastic time! There was plenty of snow (we just missed being snowed in at Takayama!) and plenty of cold weather but we loved it just the same. The two tours we had booked, the Mt Fuji-Hakone tour and the all day Kyoto tour, were facilitated by energetic, enthusiastic guides who were very knowledgable about the areas we were travelling through and the sites we got to see. We were so pleased that we spent the extra money to go on these tours as they showed the best of the areas as well as not having to do it all ourselves. The lunch had on the Mt Fuji-Hakone tour was a highlight! Unfortunately the day we went on that tour, it was cold and very bleak so we didn’t get to see many of the beautiful views. It has already been decided though that next time we go we will do the same tour again so we can see what the views were supposed to be like!
It is so hard to pick a highlight city as we enjoyed all of them so much! The culture, the people, the food and the scenery (even when it was whizzing past when on the bullet trains) was spectacular! The bullet train system and the JR pass is just so efficient and easy to use and we were so grateful to have the pass as it meant we could just go to the station, reserve a ticket and know that we would be able to get a seat for our journey. It also meant that travelling on the public transport system was generally a breeze.
The hotels we stayed at were of high quality and had superb, attentive service. We often found ourselves saying ‘we can’t afford to stay here!’. The breakfast package that we purchased is highly recommended (especially in Tokyo – the breakfast selection was phenomenal!). Unfortunately we can’t rave about the hotel or the service we received at our hotel in Osaka – we found the staff to be very rude and unhelpful, the hotel to be dated, rooms very small in comparison to where we had been before and we were given a ‘sanitised’ smoking room when you had specifically requested a non-smoking room for us. We realise that these factors are beyond your control, however we thought we should bring them to your attention for your own reference.
A couple of things we would like to suggest are that some directions be provided on how to get to the hotel from the JR Station that you arrive at. Even if it is just which exit to take and then a simple ‘turn left’ would’ve been very helpful as we often ended up exiting at the wrong exit and having to rely on Google maps (which is not always reliable!). The other would be that an extra night in Takayama and Kyoto would’ve been fantastic so that we could really soak up all that was on offer. We are very happy that we added on an extra night in Tokyo and perhaps next time would add another day as we didn’t quite get to do everything that we wanted to.
We left Japan with a heavy heart as we had enjoyed our stay so much. Don’t worry – we will be going back again soon!
We would like to thank you so much for all your help and service in booking our trip. It was so easy and pain free (we had been to a couple of travel agents before getting in contact with JTB directly, and had not been happy with the service or the prices being quoted to us) and we will be recommending you highly to anyone who asks who we booked through. Thank you for helping us have such a wonderful trip and for helping us to create so many wonderful memories.
Our many thanks, Ashton and Lucy
Dear Clement
Thank you for your amazing assistance with both my bookings for Mr and Mrs Edwards and Mr and Mrs Matthews.
Yuki was also amazing and organised a wonderful bottle of wine for Mr and Mrs Edwards to have a dinner tonight. They were very happy.
Once again thankyou.
Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me as I would be more than happy to assist.
Kind regards
Dianne
Hi Koyomi,
Sorry I have not sent this earlier. I just wanted you to know we had a lovely skiing holiday in Japan. The people were wonderful and the food was to die for.
Thank you very much for all the work you put in to make it such a success.
Cheers,
Fiona
Hi Mika,
It would seem that there was a bit of confusion with the language between me and the hotel reception. I’m glad the taxi driver we had was the correct one as he was very good.
We are back home now. I had a good time in Japan. I missed most of the snow monkey tour as I slipped in the snow and hurt my back. I went back to the train station while Caitlin went on. It would be nice to visit Japan again in perhaps spring or sometime when it is not so cold and snow. Caitlin has come back with some good memories, photos and heaps of purchases. She got to see the Dragon Painter in Nikko and watched as he painted her dragon, so she was thrilled with that.
So thank you for organising this trip for me.
Many thanks
Monica
Hi Miyuki,
Many thanks for your assistance last week when arrangements went off track due to the blizzard, all re-arranged meet and greet/transfers/hotel booking worked well and we made it to New Prince Hotel next day.
All in all another very enjoyable Hokkaido holiday although the snow was not up to the usual Hokkaido standard this year, some local instructors said it is the worst season in 10 years. Apart from the blizzard prior to our arrival it didn’t snow once during our stay in Furano, just clear bright sunny days: however I must say that even if it was the worst season in 10 years the snow at Furano was far better than New Zealand on a good year!
I am very pleased with the excellent service we have received from JTB over the past few years, many thanks for your assistance.
Regards
Len
Good morning Koyomi
We are back from Japan and wanted to let you know what an amazing holiday we all had. Thank you so much for all your help with bookings and arrangements. Everything went exactly to plan with catching trains, taxi and hotel. We loved Le Neige hotel and Hakuba. Hopefully we will get to return to Japan where we enjoyed excellent hospitality, great snow and a wonderful experience. It has been a pleasure to deal with you and we look forward to contacting you for our next holiday.
Many thanks
Julie
Dear Mr WANG, Annette and I would like to thank you for your spontaneity and infectious enthusiasm which you shared with us so naturally, intently and generously. Over the years we have dealt with many women and men who have been very good at their jobs. We would rank your efforts today in the top 5 %. In a sales situation we always try to strike a good rapport with the person who is partnering with us. To your credit we did not have to do much spade work at all. The moment you saw us at the counter, you immediately, stopped what you were doing, walked out of your cage and engaged us with an inviting smile. Soon we felt quite relaxed to start ‘educating’ our minds with your specialities in the Japan
Hi, We have just returned from our 18 day holiday in Japan.
I just wanted to let you know it was the perfect itinerary for us. Our wish list was all ticked off and we feel like our schedule was well planned and timed out for the days we had.
I was travelling with my two teenage girls and 10 yr old son, and we all agree it was truly memorable and great fun. Specifically, we loved the Dynamic Tokyo Tour. We saw so much more in one day than we could have in a much longer holiday or on our own. It was nice to be above ground on the bus for a change, as you see so much incidental scenery from the bus rather than popping out from the subway into a new realm. The Tokyo Dynamic Tour included a wonderful lunch, the yummiest teppanyaki we’d ever had, and wandering the gardens at both the lunch and tea ceremony sights felt like a privilege. All the staff we encountered were generous, caring and humorous. The Nakamise walkway up to Sensoji Temple was such a surprise and we wouldnt have gone if it wasnt part of the tour.
We enjoyed the Mt Fuji trip and agree with Clement that it was a good choice to make that our first day in Japan, I think we would otherwise have wasted a day acclimatising and wandering aimlessly. Being on tour for our first day, forced us out of bed early but more importantly gave us time to get used to the currency, weather, language and ask pertinent questions to a tour guide face to face.
We are grateful for your recommendation to stay at Biyu no Yado Ryokan in Yudanaka. The homestyle feel and traditional meals and accommodation were something we had never experienced. Very memorable for us all to sleep on futons and tatami, and the food surprised us so much. Some of it challenged us to try but everything was delicious (even the dried up salted looking fish that stared up at us from the plate), we agreed it was the best thing we ate all week. From here we enjoyed the snow monkey visit and found two staff; Daniel and Kaori, exceptional hosts.
Most importantly for me, I found all your notes helpful. Validating passes, locating reference numbers for bookings, phone numbers, meeting times etc- it was all so clearly laid out that I was able to enjoy the holiday knowing nothing would go wrong if I followed your instructions. So a big thank you from me, I enjoyed my kids company more for never having to “get stuck”.
Thanks Clement, should we be lucky enough to return to Japan, we will definitely use you guys again.
Warm Regards,
Jodi
Hi Takuma
Just to let you know all my group had an enormously great time in Niseko. Everything was perfect. The weather was amazing…powder snow, sun , powder snow…
Our apartment at Yama Shizen was perfect …I had a wonderful view each day whilst my family and group skied I could look out at the main ski run and enjoy it…
The arrival pick up, drive to Niseko , the service by HT holdays was excellent.
We would definitely go here again.
We all did the snow mobiles one day upto the summit on one of the sunny days….was so much fun…
Thanks again fo all your help.
Until next booking

Hi Steven,
We had a fantastic time, everything went smoothly and I was very thankful for JTB sending someone to meet me at the airport to arrange all the train tickets and JR pass etc. The students said Kyoto and Takayama were their favourite places and experiences. The school visit, however short, was enjoyed by the students. Everything was well organised, no complications with any accomodation – very thankful JTB was there to back me up. Thanks for your help, and Renee’s as well.
Cheers,
Sonia
Hi Miyuki,
Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time in Japan (and Shanghai)- back a week now- and all our connections and hotels and the JR pass worked well.
We particularly enjoyed Kamikochi, Naoshima. Miyajima, Kanazawa, Takayama but also Kyoto, Kagoshiima. And Tokyo so pretty much everywhere!
Thanks for putting it all together!
Cheers and best wishes,
Peter and Lynne
Hi Olivia,
Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks for your help in organising our trip to Japan recently. We had a blast! Ishigaki was a great little spot and the people there were awesome. Even got to do karaoke with the Mayor!
The hotel Prince Shinagawa was fantastic – clean, great breaky, easy access to trains and a view of Fuji-San! The Kill Bill restaurant was great, and the robot restaurant in Shinjuku was very Tokyo quirky, but fun. My Japanese friends thought it was interesting. About 80% of the people there were foreigners. We had dinner afterwards in Golden Street which is full of tiny eateries and bars. That was a definite highlight.
We headed straight to Hiroshima from Tokyo in one hit, dumped our bags at the ryokan I organised near the station, and headed to Miyajima. Well worth the trip – what a spectacular place. Stunning views and the oysters cooked fresh on the stone grill! Yum!
One night in Hiroshima, back on the shink to Kyoto, with a stopover at Himeji Castle on the way. Dinner in Gion, then the next day spent going to various shines/temples – Kiyomizu-dera, Sliver Pavilion (best gardens in Kyoto!), Gold Pavilion and finally Ryoanji with it’s fascinating rock garden.
On the express train to KIX, overnight at the Nikko Hotel (again, great place) then off to Ishigaki.
All the timings/connections were spot on thanks. And we certainly got our money’s worth with the rail passes.
This was my travel buddy Troy’s first ever overseas trip, and he had a blast. Thanks for all your help in organising it.
I have attached a few photos of the trip for your viewing pleasure! I may put some up on the JTB Facebook page soon.
And thanks for your help with the other team members who travelled to Ishigaki too! The tournament was great fun.
Kind regards,
Ben
Hi Koyomi,
We returned from our Japan holiday on Monday. Everything went to plan with our rail passes and USJ tickets. I really want to give you feedback on the Cooking Sun Japanese cooking class. It was so wonderful and I can highly recommend it. We caught a taxi from Kyoto Station as this seemed easiest, but found our way back very easily after the class. Fuki, the lady who taught us, spoke excellent English and was just so nice. There was only Jemma and I in the class and it was very hands on. We learnt a lot and were very proud of the obento box we produced. I will send you a couple of photos on a separate email. Great value for money.
Regards, Karyn
