HAKODATE 
After arriving at New Chitose Airport, exchange your JR Hokkaido 7-Day Pass and take the train to the port town of Hakodate via the coast. Hakodate played an important role in the re-opening of Japan after 200-years of isolation and is filled with many beautiful buildings from this era. Explore Goryokaku, the star shaped fort famous for its moat and Sakura trees in the spring. Take the ropeway up Mount Hakodate to take in one of Japan’s top night views over the city and Hakodate Harbour.

HAKODATE 
Start the day by trying some of Hokkaido’s famous seafood at the Hakodate Morning Seafood Market. Take a short train ride to Onuma Quasi National Park and explore the stunning natural beauty that Hokkaido has to offer. End the day back in Hakodate and visit the Hakodate Brick Warehouse District and Motomachi, home to many historic foreign residences from the 1800’s

NOBORIBETSU ( D ) 

Travel to Noboribetsu, one of Hokkaido’s most popular traditional onsen resort towns via train and a short local bus ride. The highlight of Noboribetsu is Hell Valley (Jigokudani) where you can see sulphur rich pools and volcanic activity. Noboribetsu also has many pleasant walking trails and natural foot baths. Spend the night in one of the townships many ryokans and experience some of Japan’s finest onsens with a traditional kaiseki dinner.

FURANO ( B ) 

Travel by train into the heart of Hokkaido, through the picturesque rural landscape to Furano. Try some of Hokkaido’s delicious dairy products at Furano Cheese Factory or treat your palate at Furano Winery. End the day by strolling around the Ningle Terrace and Forest Boardwalk with its many illuminated craft shops.

FURANO (B )  

Depending on the season, Furano has many unique sights worth visiting! In winter, hit the slopes and experience some of Japan’s finest Ja-powder in the Furano Ski Fields. In spring and summer, Furano is home to an amazing floral display where the rolling hills are covered in rainbow of flowers. In autumn, head to the Mount Asahidake, Hokkaido’s tallest peak, to see the autumn colours before they reach anywhere else in the country.

SAPPORO ( B ) 

Hop on the train to Asahikawa for a bowl of the famous Asahikawa Ramen, before continuing onto Hokkaido’s capital Sapporo. In Sapporo, head to the Ainu Historical Village to uncover the history of Hokkaido’s native peoples before visiting the Sapporo Brewery for dinner, be sure to try the Japanese BBQ dish Ghengis Khan!

SAPPORO 

End your trip with a short-day trip by train to Otaru, a quaint harbour town with a beautiful canal. Be sure to stop into one of Otaru’s many museums before heading back to Sapporo. Have one final bowl of delicious Hokkaido Ramen in Sapporo’s ramen alley and walk off the calories at Odori Park, a central park cutting through downtown Sapporo. For those with extra time, head up to Mount Moiwa for another stunning night view of Sapporo and its surroundings.
